Walking and Cycling Trails of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal
Wigan Tourism Unit has launched three brand new trails of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. The tours form part of the wider Manchester's Countryside Initiative which in partnership with Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham, looks to raise awareness of and encourage visits to the rural attractions of North Manchester - which offers up over 500 square miles of wonderful landscapes, historic and picturesque waterways, hidden gems of villages, quaint places to eat and drink and fantastic opportunities for rural pursuits, whether walking or cycling.

The new Wigan trails offer tow-path based routes combining natural history and heritage. They include: Wigan Pier to Arley Hall, Wigan Pier to Appley Bridge and Wigan Pier to Leigh Bridge.

Free copies of the trail are available to download below, or contact Wigan Tourist Information Centre on 01942 825677.
