Drumcroon collectionDrumcroon Collection
Drumcroon Education Arts Centre opened in 1980 and gained national acclaim for work in visual arts education. Part of its mission was to give local children access to original artworks by a range of artists. The Drumcroon Collection includes prints, paintings, drawings, textiles and objects purchased from or donated by many artists over the years and includes works by some established British artists, including Patrick Heron, Victor Pasmore, Elisabeth Frink and many more. The Turnpike Gallery is delighted to showcase the most significant exhibition to date of over 50 works from the collection.

Get Ready for a Spooktacular Day Out at our annual pumpkin picking festival. It is more than your average pumpkin picking and it's back bigger and better! wigan little theatreThe Accrington Pals
This lyrical and poignant play is set in Accrington during 1914-16. The “Pals” are the men from the local volunteer battalion who march high-spiritedly off to the Great War. Their experiences in the trenches contrast starkly to the women they left behind. A heart wrenching story of courage of brothers in arms and the endurance and resilience of those at home. This amateur production is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH LTD a Concord Theatrical Company.

Pier 4Blues Harvest suported by The Jimi Henson Experience
This Halloween, live music will be back at the legendary Wigan Pier! Head to Pier 4, where Blues Harvest will bring iconic soundtracks and cult movie anthems that will have you singing along. HaighFamily Firework Spectacular
The annual Haigh Fireworks Spectacular returns, with a bumper evening of entertainment planned for the whole family. You’ll find a food village, DJ Luke and merchandise stalls throughout the evening. Ponts fair will also be open until 7.15pm.

Light Night Wigan 2024Light Night Wigan 2025: Data Mining
Data Mining takes a creative and elemental journey through our industrial and geological heritage as we transition towards a greener future. It will mine for traces of memory and identity, seeking out poignant moments enmeshed in the fabric of objects and places, taking the idea of a subterranean world of memories connected to a re-wilding surface. A place where deep time, captured in the geology of an area perforated with mine shafts and underground galleries, combines with a parallel world of scanned and virtual copies. “Data Mining is both futuristic and ancient at the same time. It is hard to know whether we are going forward or backwards in time.”
