Join our bat experts for a twilight nature and bat walk around Haigh Woodland Park. It will begin with a fascinating introduction to the bats of Haigh, followed by a guided walk through the woodland where our experts will stop at various points to talk about the trees, wildlife, insects, and fungi and answer any questions. When dusk falls, you will be supplied with a bat detector to tune in as they swoop and feed over the park. Please wear sturdy footwear and bring a torch! Children are free with a full paying adult.

Discover the wildNature Walks with Discover The Wild: Summer Nature Walk
Immerse yourself in the sounds and sights of summer! Take a walk through the woods and hedgerows and explore the insects, birds, flowers and fungi that may call Haigh Hall home for the summer. From bird visitors from Africa to our colourful summer flowers we will amble around the park appreciating some wonderful species and learning about how they fit in to the ecosystem, how we identify them as well as appreciate their beauty. It is summer so expect lots of butterflies, but don't worry, even if it rains there is still lots to encounter and get hands on with!

Be wellCycle Three Sisters
Families are invited to come along and enjoy a host of free bike-based activities on and off the track. We have bikes available to borrow and ride around the course, balance bikes and cycle skills sessions for children, and Wheels For All adapted cycles for people with a range of disabilities. You can also learn more about cycling and active travel from a variety of partner organisations. Most activities run from 3pm to 8pm. From 1.30pm-2.45pm there is also a dedicated opportunity for those with balance bikes, bikes with stabilisers and adapted bikes only on the main circuit.

PrideWigan Pride
Wigan Pride will be back in Wigan town centre. The free, family-friendly event will begin with a colourful parade, leaving Wigan town centre at 11am and marching to Mesnes Park and back to Believe Square. Entertainment on the main Unity Stage in Wigan town centre will run 12 to 5pm and feature professional artists, with a celebration of local talent and young up and coming artists on the Believe Square stage, 12:15pm to 4:15pm. A Quiet Area will be available in the town centre for those who need to take a break from all the excitement. All welcome!

Get ready for a prehistoric adventure this summer at Roarsome Days, part of our exciting Summer Haigh Days programme, designed to create unforgettable memories for families. Step back in time and come face-to-face with a spectacular array of life-sized walkabout dinosaurs, including Cory the Talking Dinosaur, and his roarsome prehistoric friends! Meet, greet and snap plenty of photos as these incredible creatures roam about. Young explorers can also enrol in our Dinosaur Ranger Training, where they'll learn the skills needed to become an official dinosaur ranger through a fun and interactive experience.

Cotton Works is set to host its biggest summer event yet, spread across Cotton Works' three iconic venues, as Cotton Fest arrives for a full day of live music, entertainment, and unforgettable experiences for the whole family. Discover the wildNature Walks with Discover The Wild: Autumn Foraging
Come on our autumnal forage through Haigh to discover the wild and cultivated plants and the fascinating stories, mythology and folklore surrounding them. On our seasonal foraging walks we will get to grips with some of these plants, some of them edible, some poisonous. You will learn how to identify them, learn about their fascinating ecology, how they fit in the landscape and their edible and medicinal uses. Where possible we will get hands on with the plants and even try some in the field; this is a great way to learn more about the plants around the estate.

Mindful Events aim to provide an enjoyable and non-judgmental environment for anyone wishing to ease their minds through guided mindfulness exercises in nature. Each session lasts for two hours and includes a gentle walk practising the power of pause, a self-heating eye mask, 1:1 crown chakra healing treatment, group reiki, guided mindfulness meditation and a nature-inspired sound bath.
