The 9th annual Wigan Pride is a day to celebrate the equality, diversity and difference across the Wigan Borough. Taking place across Wigan Town Centre, this family-friendly day will include the famous parade, stalls and range of entertainment on the Believe stage; Believe Square and Unity Stage; Market Square. Celebrate into the night, with the after-show party, taking place at various venues on King Street.

Wigan 10k run 2024Wigan 10K

The 12th Wigan 10k run will once again start and finish in the glorious surroundings of Mesnes Park. This popular event in the running calendar attracts an array of runners from across the North-West and this year is no exception. The following weekend we move to Leigh for a second evening of proms magic, this time in the beautiful surroundings of Pennington Hall Park. The Tyldesley Brass Band will once again serenade you until sunset and bring the summer season to a close with a bang. Diggers-FestivalWigan Diggers Festival

Come and celebrate the life and influence of Gerrard Winstanley and the 17th century Diggers’ (True Levellers) movement he inspired. On the day there is both a main stage and an acoustic stage, featuring bands, solo performers and poets. There is also a children’s area, a wide range of stalls along with a beer tent. Fringe events will complement this main festival throughout the year with guest speakers and performers. Wigan Borough’s 50th Anniversary photo exhibition which celebrates the people, places and communities that have shaped the character of our borough over the past 50 years. Curated with Wigan & Leigh college students and supported by Wigan Council, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Archives: Wigan and Leigh and the Open Eye Hub. Part of Wigan Borough’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.

Wigan Little TheatreWigan Little Theatre events

Wigan Little Theatre is based on Crompton Street, just outside of the town centre. An amazing new family-friendly exhibition in the archives at Leigh Town Hall showcases the astonishing stories that make up the local history of the borough. There is lots to explore, from stories from Miss Weeton’s diaries of Wigan life in the 17th Century, to Leigh’s First World War Victoria Cross recipient; Alfred Wilkinson.
