Perfect for the whole family, Everywhere’s a Beach is a charmingly ridiculous performance taking place on a giant revolving beach parasol! This dynamic, dizzying and downright daft show will leave you dancing with delight! You’ll be swept away as this show embraces everything we love about the beach. Our spinning parasol creates the perfect setting for our eccentric beach loving characters. Watch as their world collides with yours, as sophistication turns to chaos in this aerial circus performance.

TreeStory Exhibition
TreeStory: The Story of Wigan through its trees was launched to celebrate Wigan Borough’s 50th anniversary. Through input from local communities and with generous support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this project invites you to discover and celebrate the trees that shape our borough’s landscape and heritage.

Woodland Spa Days
Mindful Events aim to provide an enjoyable and non-judgmental environment for anyone wishing to ease their minds through guided mindfulness exercises in nature. Each session lasts for two hours and includes a gentle walk practising the power of pause, a self-heating eye mask, 1:1 crown chakra healing treatment, group reiki, guided mindfulness meditation and a nature-inspired sound bath.

Make.Believe Exhibition
The Turnpike Gallery’s Make. Believe exhibition invites audiences to explore the stories, landscapes and communities of Higher Folds in Leigh, home to around 2,000 people. The project has been inspired by the generous and creative spirit of residents, and focuses on how they see, experience and shape where they live.

Four Seasons of Haigh: Digital Art Workshop with Joseph Doubtfire
Join artist Joseph Doubtfire for a hands on introduction to digital art using iPads, inspired by Haigh’s landscape. As Haigh’s iconic Plantation Gates and Lodges prepare to reopen, we’re inviting people to get creative. In this workshop you’ll experiment with digital drawing, collage and simple animation - from capturing your favourite places, to exploring how the scenery changes through the seasons. Ever wondered how artists like David Hockney draw on iPads? Come and give it a go. No experience needed. All iPads provided.

Breakfast with the Moths of Haigh
Join our moth enthusiasts Jeff and Marcus to identify what species have been captured in our moths traps overnight and discover the secret world of these crucial, night-flying pollinators. Our humane traps ensure all moths are safely inspected and released. No experience necessary - everyone is welcome! Armed Forces Day
This annual, family-friendly event is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, past and present. The day starts with a military parade from Mesnes Park, heading along Mesnes Street and Standishgate towards market Place, where you will find music and entertainment, fun fair and stalls plus an array of military vehicles and displays on show.

Flashes Festival of Nature
Pennington Flash forms part of The Flashes of Wigan and Leigh, the first National Nature Reserve in Greater Manchester and you are invited to spend a fun-filled day at its annual showcase for a day of nature-themed activities. Come along and learn more about the abundance of wildlife that resides in and around this amazing site and it’s importance to our landscape, through a range of activities that include guided walks, stalls, arts and crafts and much more.

Twilight nature and bat walk
Join our bat experts for a twilight nature and bat walk around Haigh Woodland Park. It will begin with a fascinating introduction to the bats of Haigh, followed by a guided walk through the woodland where our experts will stop at various points to talk about the trees, wildlife, insects, and fungi and answer any questions. When dusk falls, you will be supplied with a bat detector to tune in as they swoop and feed over the park. Please wear sturdy footwear and bring a torch! Children are free with a full paying adult.

Nature Walks with Discover The Wild: Summer Nature Walk

From bird visitors from Africa to our colourful summer flowers we will amble around the park appreciating some wonderful species and learning about how they fit in to the ecosystem, how we identify them as well as appreciate their beauty. Nature Walks with Discover The Wild: Autumn Foraging
Come on our autumnal forage through Haigh to discover the wild and cultivated plants and the fascinating stories, mythology and folklore surrounding them. On our seasonal foraging walks we will get to grips with some of these plants, some of them edible, some poisonous. You will learn how to identify them, learn about their fascinating ecology, how they fit in the landscape and their edible and medicinal uses. Where possible we will get hands on with the plants and even try some in the field; this is a great way to learn more about the plants around the estate.

Adventure golf at Haigh
Show you're king or queen of the course with an unforgettable adventure golf experience at Haigh Woodland Park. This 18 hole adventure golf course offers many challenges and obstacles to test your skills. You can take a ride on the Viking boat, challenge yourself by putting through a tree stump vortex hole, or simply indulge in the stunning views that make this adventure golf course like no other.
